Warranty Period:
Joinery Items - 5 years from the date of practical completion
Materials – From the date of installation and limited to the warranty period provided by the specified manufacturer.

Warranty

UTJ warrants that all work performed and all Materials supplied by UTJ as part of the Subcontract will:
-
comply with the requirements specified in the Contract;
-
to the extent that the quality of Materials or standard of workmanship is not specified in the Contract, comply with the applicable industry standards, including the Building Code of Australia and any applicable Australian Standards; and
-
be fit for the purposes for which they are expressly required

UTJ warrants that it will use reasonable skill and care in performing all work associated with the Subcontract Work.

Replacement or making good
-
UTJ promises to replace or make good, to the reasonable satisfaction of the Contractor, any of the Subcontract Work which are found, within the Warranty Period, to:

have deteriorated to such an extent that they are no longer fit for the purposes for which they were required.

Limitation of warranty – joinery, wall panels, wall cladding and doors/door systems

The warranty of UTJ is void to the extent that any deterioration of the product is caused by:
-
mishandling, damage before installation, or incorrect installation, in each case caused by others;
-
normal wear and tear;
-
normal movement and colour changes of natural timber products or associated products; (Note, ‘Non-Yellowing’ seal & topcoat has a limited capacity & effective life and is not 100% ‘Non-Yellowing))
-
failure to protect the product from any and all weather elements such as but not limited to UV light, heat, direct sunlight, and moisture, in each case not attributable to UTJ; (Note; UV inhibitor has a limited capacity & effective life and is not 100% UV protective. Note; Polyurethane is water resistant, not waterproof)
-
incorrect operational procedures, maintenance contrary to the UTJ’s Care and Maintenance Manual, in each case not attributable to UTJ;
-
damage caused by other trades during or after installation,
-
design issues caused by designer, architect or contractor, or
-
any other cause beyond the control of UTJ.

Specific to doors, this warranty is void to the extent that;
-
Any door wider than 1000mm is not covered by this warranty
-
Warp has occurred greater than 4mm
-
Any dark colours have been used on door exposed to heat and/or UV rays
-
Doors have been modified/altered/repaired/tampered with by a third party.
-
Regular maintenance has not occurred
-
Any evident defect, fault, failure or allowance permitted under Australian Standards
-

Notice of Defects
-
The Contractor may notify UTJ in writing if it considers there has been any breach of the warranty in clause 1 or if the Contractor requires UTJ to replace or make good any of the Subcontract Work under clause 2 of this Warranty.

Any claim must be supported by any information reasonably requested by UTJ.

Time to remedy
-
UTJ must be allowed reasonable time to view the product in situ and to employ independent experts and take samples if required for analysis to determine possible causes of contaminants or mistreatment.

Any costs associated with the return of the products to UTJ for the purpose of a warranty claim, shall be the responsibility of the customer
